This lesson gives younger learners (junior-high 1 age), or low-level students, a chance to practice communicating their abilities using can and can’t. It gives students the chance to practice by following, and then modifying, a model conversation between two people.

New Year’s Quiz (2019 News Events)

It’s a new year and that means it’s time to reflect on what happened in 2019. This quiz is a simple activity containing numerous categories such as “World News” and “Entertainment” among others. Each category has 10 questions with 10 points being the easiest and 100 the most difficult. Of course, questions can be altered or entirely swapped out according to the level of your class. Easy to set up, most kids from junior-high through to high-school love playing it.

English Olympics

It’s 2020 and the Olympic games are a hot topic especially in Japan and Tokyo.

This lesson incorporates the theme of the Olympics by creating a “mini-Olympics” in the classroom in which students can represent countries of their choice and compete by testing their ability to form sentences and questions in English.
